From breakfast coffee to a takeaway drink after a meeting, paper cups are part of the guest experience at a hotel. Their size, comfort and appearance deserve as much attention as other service accessories.

For properties looking for custom paper cups for hotels in Quebec, several factors can help you plan an order that meets your needs. A paper cup manufacturer based in Montreal, Les Emballages ASWAL helps businesses bring their custom cup projects to life.

Hotels use paper cups in a variety of settings: breakfast areas, reception, guest rooms, conference rooms and takeaway coffee counters.

Before choosing a cup, identify where drinks will be served and consumed. Coffee enjoyed on site calls for different considerations than a drink carried to a car.

For each area, identify:

This initial assessment helps avoid ordering sizes you rarely use and makes daily service easier for your team.

The right size depends on your menu, your machine settings and your guests’ preferences.

An 8 oz cup can work well for a small coffee. A 12 oz cup is an option to consider for regular takeaway service. A 16 oz cup can meet the needs of hotels that offer larger drinks.

Before ordering, test a sample with your equipment. Make sure the cup fits under the machine’s spout and that the serving volume leaves enough room to add milk and attach the lid.

Limiting the number of cup sizes can also simplify ordering, storage and restocking at service stations.

A custom cup brings your hotel’s visual identity into the smaller details of a guest’s stay. It can feature your logo, brand colours or a short tagline.

For an easily recognizable design, keep the layout clear and readable. A well-positioned logo at a suitable size will generally be easier to identify than a design filled with small text.

Consider including:

For a hotel group, a consistent layout with a different logo for each property can help create a shared guest experience while preserving each location’s identity.

Cup capacity alone does not determine which lid will fit. Check the top diameter and the exact compatibility of the cup and lid models.

Request samples of the cup and lid you plan to order. Test them under your actual service conditions: filling, closing, holding and carrying.

For hot drinks, also check how comfortable the cup is to hold. Depending on the cup and serving temperature, an insulating sleeve may be needed.

Cup requirements vary with occupancy rates, group bookings and your event calendar.

A simple approach is to start with your actual usage:

Choose cups for each area of your hotel
